Company history

1991

Already in 1991, the idea of developing a new generation of skin care products on the island of Sylt was born to help sick people to constantly improve their skin problems. The basis of this cream was initially a salt of the Sylt brine. Mr. L. Schmidt founded the company Thermasol, but since this brand name was already protected by a Mr. W. Freyer and their cosmetic products at the DPMA with older rights, it was necessary to change this name and find a distinctive name.

1999

In 1999 the company Sylter ThermaSol was founded and a kind of primordial salt cream was developed. This original salt cream was sold in the foyer of the Asklepios Nordseeklinik Westerland, a recognised clinic in Northern Germany and to its patients. Many guests of this clinic became satisfied customers of the newly founded company, whose employee was T.B.

2006

In April 2006, AMBERPHARM GmbH was founded and a whole range of new products were presented for the first time. 3 lines were developed. One line consisted of salt from the Luisenhall salt works, the oldest pan boiling plant in Europe. Another line was realized from the Palmaria Palmata. Amberpharm GmbH obtained these Sylt red algae from the Sylt algae farm, whose director was Prof. Klaus Lüning (former employee of the Alfred Wegner Institute for Polar and Marine Research). A further line was transferred from the Sylt Royal, oysters which are bred off the coast of Sylt.

2008

In 2008 Amberpharm GmbH was already able to successfully place its new salt line “Saltcare” with the Luisenhaller salt in the world’s most difficult cosmetics market in South Korea. Here, however, it was sold under the series name: “No.1 GENESIS Triactive 8% NaCI”, as the car manufacturer Hyundai was building the “GENESIS” model of the same name at the same time. So in South Korea the name of our red algae series No.1 GENESIS Triactive 8% NaCI was used for the salt line, which was formerly called Saltcare.

2014

From 2014 onwards, our products were sold through CJO Shopping and our distributor HSD in South Korea. The number of products sold by Amberpharm increased rapidly to well over one million in total. With a population of approximately 50 million people throughout South Korea in 2014. In 2014, the Saltcream was improved in response to the wishes of our customers. The fragrance from the food industry and phenoxyethanol were removed and other ingredients were replaced by improved ingredients. The market in South Korea is highly competitive in the world of cosmetics, so they even tried to copy our product in South Korea. Nevertheless unrivalled, we are continuing our strategy with unique products in South Korea and are enjoying increasing popularity.

2018

Our new product series that we are selling in South Korea today is characterized by its new and timeless beautiful design. According to the motto: “Just the product”, which will always be our main focus. Furthermore, we have integrated forgery-proof features such as a hologram into our packaging to guarantee our customers that they are buying the AMBERPHARM Original Saltcream and cannot be taken in by inferior copies. We have also paid attention to higher quality packaging materials, such as an acrylic glass jar, which cannot affect the quality of the product. We will soon have an addition to our product family, let us surprise you!
